2. Concept OfE-literacy
Electronic literacy is the marrying of the two
terms Electronic and literacy. E-literacy has been defined in a variety of
ways but it generally relates to the skill set required to make efficient
use of all of the materials, tools, and resources that are available online.
The term electronic literacy refers to the ability to efficiently portray
and show understanding of information using electronic means such as
computers, video, web-pages and the like.
3. E-literacy And Education
Electronic literacy involves computer literacy, network
literacy, information literacy and social media literacy. As a
pedagogical approach in curriculum design, the implementation of
Electronic literacy affords far-reaching advantages.

7. Need And Significance Of The Study
Our educational sector is growing every moment and every day.
But those who were teaching is not much aware about the sources that
are useful to enrich their knowledge as well as their class rooms. Here the
researcher would like to analyses how much our teachers are aware about
using the e-resources. So the investigator decided to take the present
study “E-Literacy Level of Teachers at Higher Secondary Schools in
Kerala.”

resources available for their classrooms.

According to hypothesis 2 (a) there is significant difference in
the e-literacy level based on gender. The analysis resulted in finding
that there is no significant difference in the e-literacy level based on
gender. at 0.05 level. Therefore the hypothesis is rejected.

the hypothesis is rejected.

According to hypothesis 2 (c) there is significant difference in the
e-literacy level of teachers, teaching languages and other subjects. The
analysis resulted in the finding that there is no significant difference in e-
literacy level of teachers, teaching languages and other subjects at 0.05
level. Therefore the hypothesis is rejected.

According to 2 (d) there is significant difference in the e-literacy
level of Teachers at Higher secondary level based on Locality. The
analysis resulted in the finding that there is no significant difference in
the e-literacy level of Teachers at Higher secondary level based on Locality
at 0.05 level. Therefore the hypothesis is rejected.
17. Findings Of The Study
The following findings are drawn from the study,
Based on the research, the teachers having e-literacy is just above 60%.
That means all the teachers are not fully aware about the digital tools
that can be used in the classroom.
Based on the analysis there is no significant difference in the e-literacy
level of teachers at higher secondary level on the basis of
Gender.
Management.
Subject.
Locality.
18. Suggestions
The Govt. at central and state level should conduct
a survey to know the e-literacy level of teachers
with the support of education Minister and
department.
The Teacher training organizations such as
NCERT,SCERT, DIET, BRCs, etc. should take initiative
to conduct orientation classes and skill
development programmes on the use of Digital Tools.
Teachers should develop maximum awareness by
themselves on the use of digital tools with the
support of tutorial available in websites.
19. Conclusion
The present study intended to find out e-literacy level of
teachers at higher secondary level. The present study reveals that there
is no significant difference in the e-literacy level of teachers at higher
secondary level with respect to different aspects (Gender, Management,
Subject and Locality). The research output reveals that the present
teacher training curriculum is more advanced one and the teachers in
service were getting adequate in-service training also.
