Introduction
• Teamcenter Integration for SOLIDWORKS (SWIM) enables design information created in SOLIDWORKS
to be captured, controlled, and shared within organization in a highly secure PLM environment, while
version management and access control ensure that the right people get the right information at the right
time.
• The SWIM provides access to Teamcenter from within the SOLIDWORKS environment.
• The SWIM stores each SOLIDWORKS model in its own dataset and gives the dataset the same name as the
model. Each dataset is stored in an item revision, and each item revision belongs to an item.

errors and rework.

Pre-requisites
• Teamcenter & Solidworks application
• Teamcenter Rich client & Active workspace
• SWIM Installation on the server side
• SWIM Installation on the client side

How to create new part?
• We will see how to create a part in Solidworks and save it in Teamcenter.
1. Click on
Create new
2. Select a
Part
template
3. Blank
window will
open with this
pop-up
4. Fill values
in the ID
generator
window

How to create new part?
5. Create
model
6. Click on the
Teamcenter
icon and save
7. This symbol
means the part
is checked in
8. This will
open part in
Teamcenter
AW.

How to check out the part?
 Go to the active model window.
 Right-click on the part
 Select checkout.
 Right-click on the part, from the
same window.
 Select cancel check out Click.
We will see how to check in and check out part. The white rectangle beside the
part means it is checked in. and the white rectangle with the arrow means it is
checked out.

How to revise the part?
• We will see how to revise the part.
 Right-click on part and save
 The save window will appear
 Select Revise, the next revision will
appear
 Click on save

How to revise the part?
 Rev B got created, you can see it in the
active model view.
 Open this new rev in AW.

How to create a drawing file?
• We will see how to create a drawing file for the part.
 Right-click and check out the part.
 Go to the file and Select “Make drawing from Part”
 Select the appropriate sheet size from the drop down.
 Once selected Click Ok.

 Drag required views in the sheet.
 Now you will get this pop-up, click yes.
 This ID generator window will appear, click
create. It will save drawing file under same ID
where part file is.
 Create drawing.

 Go to active model view. Select both and click on save.
 A save window will appear. Select both and save.
 Validate in Teamcenter

How to create an assembly?
• We will see how to create an assembly.
1. Click on
Create new.
2. Select the
Assembly template.
3. This will pop-up.
Click on Yes.
4. Fill values in the ID
generator window.

5. Go to active
model view,
Right-click, and
select “Insert
model”.
6. Search
window will
appear.
7. Once you
find the part,
click on insert.
9. You can
see the model
in the LHS
box

10. Click on the
model and move
your cursor to
place it.
11. The added
part will appear
here in the form of
a tree.
12. Add other
parts with the
same process.
13. Click on Save.
This will import
assembly in
Teamcenter.

14. Open
assembly in
Teamcenter.
15. Click on the
Content tab to
check child parts
15. You can also
see child parts in
the structure
manager.
