responsible for the internal administration of
Oudh during the greater part of Nawab Vizier
Asafud-Daulah’s reign. Appointed about August

minister by 1779 on account of his superior
ability.

• Justice Dwarka Nath Mitra was born in 1833 at Agunsi, an obscure village in
the Hooghly District. Dwarka Nath was educated at the Hooghly and
Presidency Colleges.

the Junior Magistrate, Babu Kisori Chand Mitter. Babu Sambhu Nath Pandit
helped him to come up the ladder. His fortunes rose with the opening of the

Calcutta University. He maintained several indigent boys at his house in
Bhowanipore, whom he used to provide with food, clothing, books ,etc. His
