Liz Truss rewarded her key allies with top cabinet roles after becoming prime minister, appointing Kwasi Kwarteng as chancellor, James Cleverly as foreign secretary, and Suella Braverman as home secretary. Therese Coffey was also given the roles of health secretary and deputy prime minister. None who backed her rival Rishi Sunak remain in the full cabinet. Truss's press secretary said the changes would unify the Conservative Party and pointed to roles for five of her former leadership rivals. For the first time, the top four government roles are not held by white men.
