• Medical care is available to anyone who is legally in Brazil, which, of course,
includes foreign residents/visitors
• Those who cannot afford to pay for health care in Brazil use the government’s free
public national health system, mentioned above. They pay nothing for doctors’
fees, lab fees, hospitalization, surgery, or even prescription drugs.
• Brazil’s health care is sure to be one of the country’s strong points when
considering it as an overseas retirement destination.

• Tourism is becoming a major industry in Brazil.
• Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo are two of the most visited destinations in the
country.
• Brazil is the most visited country in the continent of South America today.
• The Brazilian artistic and natural heritage, the fraternal hospitality, the friendliness
of the people and not to mention the World Cup event of 2014 and upcoming
Olympic games in 2016 make Brazil a very appealing destination.
• The sector grew 13.1% in 2012 compared to the previous year and 15, 4 in 2014.
12. VISA REQUIREMENTS
• South African passport holders do not need a visa to enter Brazil for the stay of up
to 90 days for tourism or business purposes.
• The passport must be valid for at least six months prior to its expiration date and
have at least 2 (two) blank visa pages.
• Vaccination certificate if you intend to visit one of the following states in brazil:
Acre, Amapá, Amazonas, Mato Grosso, Para, Rondonia, Roraima, Tocantins, and
the western part of Maranhaõ and urbanized or city areas including Boa Vista,
Macapa, Manaus, Maraba, Porto Velho, and Santarem
18. WEATHER AND CLIMATE
• Brazil is an all year round destination with temperatures rarely dip below
20°C (68°F).
• In summer, it very hot, it can reach 40DC.
• It can get cold in the south and in the mountains during the winter
months, with temperatures sometimes hitting 0°C (32°F).
• Rainy seasons occur from January to April in the north, April to July in the
northeast and November to March in the Rio/São Paulo area.
