2. WHO WE ARE
We are a Tokyo-based non-profit organization with more than 13 years of
experience building supporting relationships with local children's homes
(orphanages).
The 30,000 children living in 600 institutionalized homes across Japan are
typically well cared for by a small yet dedicated staff. Ratio of staff
members to children can often be as high as 1 adult to 6 kids. Although
many of the homes have structured their environments into smaller family
units to create a more personal space, it is difficult for them to offer
consistent, individualized attention and guidance as the children navigate
from primary through high school and begin to consider their future
options. Adding to the difficulties is the large number of children dealing
with post-traumatic stress disorder stemming from various forms of abuse
or poverty that have resulted in the child being placed into care to begin
with. Another issue for kids is the reality of their financial options. Most
children will not have the funds to pay for secondary education or the
ability to live with family.
OUR MISSION
Our primary mission is to help children growing up in institutionalized
homes prepare for life outside the home once they reach the age of 18. We
offer support programs that increase a child's opportunity to become a
productive and financially independent young adult in their community.
This means helping kids develop and hone critical skills such as language,
writing, digital literacy, and ultimately increase confidence levels that can
lead to new opportunities and choices in the future. Providing tutoring
support, internship opportunities, as well as guidance on
university/technical school options will offer children another critical layer
of support as they start to make plans for their future. Developed skill sets,
solid communication abilities, and a thorough understanding of their
options will help set kids on the right path towards successful
independence.
This is no easy task for any child, but it can prove especially challenging for
kids without continual 1:1 attention. It is our hope that by providing
educational and mentoring-based support, we will be improving their
overall chances.

3. • BIKE RIDE
The Bike Ride started on the 13th of June. 47 riders from Knights in White Lycra
rode 500km from Takasaki to Fukushima over 4 days. On the last day, all the
riders arrived in Fukushima Aiikuen, where all the kids were waiting there
handing out the certificates of appreciation and also prepared a small
PowerPoint presentation for the riders.
• GOGO RUN
Go-Go Run is a KIWL event that happened on November 9th, 30 runners could
chose to run a 55km, 22km, or 10km courses next to the Arakawa river. This
run raised funds for our organization, and it ended in Saitama Ikujin, where
the kids cheered when the runners arrived.

4. • Golf Tournament
The 3rd annual KIWL Golf Day was played under perfect blue skies, attracting
over 60 golfing ladies and gentlemen, and was won for the first time by a
lady golfer. But it was not the winning that mattered, the participation from
players and amazingly generous sponsors raised money for YouMeWe.

• We implemented a Child Safety Policy for all the homes that we
support .

• Company from Malaysia donated clothes to the orphanages in Tokyo

• We hosted 9 University Interns from America last summer from June to
August
• We received a 70 MacBook donation and distributed throughout Japan
• We donated several MacBooks to Fukushima Aiikuen on August
• We donated several MacBooks to Sendai Tensien on August
• Coding training in the homes in Tokyo and the homes in the north
• In August we had the 10th annual DAA (Designing Artists Academy)
DAA is a Summer camp in Tokyo that offers the kids in children’s homes
an opportunity to experience forms of art during 7 days. Last year we had
several workshops with different artists teaching the kids how to use
digital cameras, coding, and many team activities with the volunteers.

• We started the Giving Tuesday campaign in all our social media to
donate Christmas gifts.
• Dr. David Sweet 7 marathons in 7 days.
• After the marathon David Sweet arrived in Fukushima Aiikuen, where
his sponsor Skechers arranged for each of the 73 children to have a
new pair of shoes.

8. • We connected with Santa & Friends Nagoya, which is an informal
group that yearly arrange gift giving Christmas parties for Nagoya city
based orphanages.
• We bought gifts for 720 kids in the orphanages that we support
• We also had great accomplishments in our class in Ghana, as many
children in the homes in Japan are multicultural, we set up partner
classes.
• We also had more Career Assessment Exams in the homes in Tokyo
• NightZookeeper Lessons completed
• The children from Matsubaen setting up all the computers for their
lab, and they were also fixing other computers that we received
through donations so we can donate to the other homes.
• More Microsoft Office training: Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
• Touchy training in St. Josephs making frames

9. Masako Wakamiya obtained her first personal computer at age 58, just ahead of her retirement from
a bank. Little did she know that she was beginning a journey that would make her the world's oldest
known iPhone app developer, at 81.
Now 85, Wakamiya calls herself an IT evangelist and encourages other seniors to use digital
technology to enrich their lives. She writes books while spreading her message on the lecture circuit in
Japan and abroad. Recently, she sat down with Nikkei to tell her story -- from that first PC to talking
shop with Apple CEO Tim Cook -- and explain why we're never too old to learn something new.

10. From June 2019 we started hosting interns from all over the world that came
to Japan wanting to have a meaningful internship where’re they worked on
projects internally and externally for YouMeWe.
Many of them are still in contact with us supporting our organization, and
some are working on projects remotely from different countries.

Some of these volunteers have been with us for many years and some are
the new generation of people that are donating their time and skills which is
something that they can’t earn back.
100 years later, nobody will care how much money I have and how big of a
house I lived in. But if you help one child today, it will last for generations.

13. Colt Charity Bike Ride is the annual event in Colt Technology Services that
brings together employees from all the countries who are sharing one
common goal: charity fundraising, via a 4 day charity bike ride between
two Colt locations.
Between 2013 and 2019 Colt succeeded to raise over 800.000 Euros for
different children support associations in over 16 countries. The first bike
ride was started with the intention to ride through the entire Colt
network. They managed to ride 3650 km from London to Paris, from Paris
to Amsterdam, then to Frankfurt, Zurich, from Marseille to Barcelona and
in 2018 to Valencia. This event facilitated the development of strong and
long term relationships between employees, customers and suppliers.
Where?
Last year Colt Charity Bike Ride had an amazing adventure across
Germany to Austria. For 4 days, at the end of September, the cyclists will
ride from Munich to Vienna with the help of the support teams.
Who?
Ioan Doroftei, our cyclist from Sibiu who attended every Colt Charity Bike
Ride, managing to raise together with his support team over 6000 Euros
for different associations from Sibiu.

14. Colt provides network and communication services throughout Asia,
North America, and Europe. Through Colt’s Corporate Social
Responsibility Program, non-profit foundations such as YouWeMe are
able to remain in operation.
The annual Charity Bike Ride from Munich to Vienna provides support
for numerous organizations working with underprivileged children,
including YouMeWe for the second year in a row. We are so fortunate
to have partnered with Colt and grateful for their continued support.
