2. INTRODUCTION
● The Union Commerce Ministry, Government of India announces the integrated Foreign Trade
Policy FTP in every five year. This is also called EXIM policy. This policy is updated every
year with some modifications and new schemes.
● Export-Import (EXIM) Policy frames rules and regulations for exports and imports of a country.
This policy is also known as Foreign Trade Policy. It provides policy and strategy of the
government to be followed for promoting exports and regulating imports.
● Now in the era of globalization, no economy in the world can remain cut-off from rest of the
world. Export and import play a significant role in the economic development of all the
developed and developing economies.
3. OBJECTIVES
● To enable substantial growth in exports from India and import to India to boost the economy.
● To improve the balance of payment and trade.
● To act as an effective instrument of economic growth by creating employment opportunities for
the citizens;
● To provide buyers or clients with high-quality goods and services at globally competitive rates
and quality
