4. ATM driver is maintained on switch, is used to control card holder interface and transaction process.
ATM driver consists of FIT table, States, Screens, ICC information, Receipts format etc.
‘Force Full download’ command is issued from ATM Monitor to load ATM Driver to the terminal.
FIT (Financial Institution Table) determines the processing options for the card inserted, when the card is inserted in ATM,
FIT is checked, when FIT is found, that FIT is used for subsequent processing.
The State controls the information that is gathered from the card and cardholder during transactions
When a state is entered, it designates which action the terminal performs, displays an appropriate screen and exits to the
appropriate next state.
5. Overview
NDC stands for NCR Direct Connect
NDC+ is an NCR developed message protocol used to pass messages between ATM and switch
Worldwide usage
Terminal Application
NCR provides an XFS software layer for ATM software vendors to “hook” into for device management
The ATM software terminal application generates and responds to NDC+ messages
ATM logic is managed by switch, so ATM is often referred to as a “dumb terminal”.
Central Application
In an NDC world, Central is a collective term used for the Switch
The role of Central is to maintain the NDC+ interface to which ATMs connect, parse and process NDC+
messages
