This document discusses how Wikipedia principles were implemented in the ABC Pool online community managed by the Australian public broadcaster ABC. It argues that ABC Pool allowed for distributed workload, granular editorial processes, and increased contributor ownership similar to Wikipedia. However, tensions also emerged between peer production and institutional needs, which required a community manager as a cultural intermediary. The model shows how institutional online communities can enhance creativity while addressing challenges to traditional industrial models.
