1. Indirapuram is a developed area located in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh on NH-24. It was conceived in the 1980s as a planned satellite city in memory of Indira Gandhi.
2. Major developments in Indirapuram include Shipra Mall, Delhi Public School, and Swaranjayanti Park. The area began developing rapidly in the 2000s with the launch of housing projects like Shipra Sun City.
3. Current issues include drainage problems, traffic congestion, lack of parking and pedestrian infrastructure, and security issues. Proposed interventions include pedestrianization of areas, improving drainage through rain gardens, and designating vendor and bus spaces to address these problems.

INDIRAPURAM was conceived as A PLANNED SATELLITE CITY way back in the early ‘80s by the then Chief
Minister ND Tiwari IN MEMORY OF INDIRA GANDHI. In 1984, the Ghaziabad Development Authority
(GDA) starts the process of Land acquisition from two villagers , Makanpur and Kanawani. Though a
couple of group housing projects were launched by the GDA, they failed to attract home buyers.
However, 2000 onwards, when real estate developer Shipra and GDA signed a Memorandium of
Understanding and launched a group housing project, Shipra Sun City, Indirapuram moved on the path
to revival. By 2006, it became an attractive real estate destination.

plants are small, but will grow to fill

During a rain storm, water enters the rain
garden through the curb cuts. The rain water
flowing into the rain garden will soak through
the garden’s soil and gravel layers, then
slowly soak into the ground.
