Update to the UPU (Universal Postal Union) Digital Transformation & Innovation Group regarding the SYNC CODE approach developed at the UPU Hackathon (23/24 June 2023). This is a new approach for Tracking and Managing the Life Cycle of a Package from Seller to Buyer across all logistic service providers handling the package on its journey from Seller to Buyer. It puts the Seller and Buyer back in control over the delivery of their Goods. It is based entirely on well-established global data standards. This presentation provides a high-level outline of the context and provides a link to the Demo Application developed during the UPU Hackathon.

What is the Problem?
Too many data sets by different transporters creates lots of
confusion when communicating about the progress of delivery
of the goods ordered transported in the package/s.

The Solution
The SYNC CODE solution is based on the
Scan4Transport standard, which provides a
globally standardized way to include
structured data into a 2D barcode.
That enables any party reading the 2D
barcode structured according to the standard
to correctly interpret the data encoded in the
2D barcode, regardless of the party who
created the barcode.
