GFA Appoints New Competitions Officer

The GFA is set to improve the execution of its competitions with help from an
experienced individual. Bruce Swan is the GFA’s new Competitions Officer
bringing ten (10) years experience from the Ministry of Sports managing various
competitions.
On the regional and international level Swan played an active role in managing
events such as the England tour of the West Indies, Caribbean T20, Carifta Games
and most recently, the CONCACAF U17 Women’s Championship which was held
in Grenada in March,2016. He was also witness to FIFA World Cup operations in
Germany.
At the local level Mr. Swan, a former member of the GFA Executive has two (2)
years experience in managing GFA competitions. He has also played a leading role
in football development in his community over the last two decades. In 2015,his
team Boca Juniors placed third in the GFA Premier League. Swan is currently the
holder of a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Statistics from the
Wichita State University.
Addressing a gathering of business people on Thursday 2nd February at a brunch
meeting in which the GFA presented its Strategic Plan, Mr Swan mentioned a
number of key areas. “Competitions fixtures must be adhered to with teams taking
the responsibility to show up to their matches. The GFA will also stick to its
mandate of playing matches within enclosed grounds to improve player and patron
experience.” He said.
Speaking of Mr. Swan’s appointment, GFA President Cheney Joseph said, “We
welcome such an experienced and competent professional making such a bold
decision to make a difference in football. Mr. Swan's expertise is unquestionable
and we have no doubt he will make a huge difference to the management of our
competitions. His notaries for standards and rules should also assist our clubs in
looking at the game in a more positive light.”
