Church school ministry has been affected by the pandemic, but it is important for spiritual development. Some teachers have struggled to get students to return. The article provides strategies to locate and bring back students to build up the church school again, such as enlisting help, encouraging invites, contacting parents, targeting new students, and revamping programs. Applying these strategies and finding additional ones can help revive and rebuild the church school for God's glory.

2. One of the areas that has been affected by the pandemic is the church school ministry. The
church school ministry has been effective in the spiritual development of both young and old.
These sessions usually run for 30 to 50 minutes. Many church schools are interactive in nature
and this level of interaction might not be seen in other segments of the worship service.
Church school can provide persons with the opportunity to:
● Ask questions
● Gain clarity on things that are difficult to understand
● Share their concerns
● Learn from other students
● Bond with other students
All the above factors create the background for spiritual growth and a richer worship experience.
However, some teachers/superintendents have been grappling with the difficult task of locating
students and bringing them back into church school.
Locate persons, bring them back into church school and build/rebuild your church school by:
● Enlisting the help of all
● Encouraging children, youth and adults to invite their peers to church school
● Contacting parents/guardians and encouraging them to send children to church school
● Targeting prospective new students from the community
● Revamping programmes to make them more attractive
● Assigning specific persons to monitor/follow up with students
● Assigning mentors to students
● Having a "back to church school" drive
● Having a formal launch of the resumption of church school, where necessary
● Setting attendance targets for persons who are a part of the church school ministry, as
well as for the wider church population
● Having high attendance competitions and rewards systems
● Advertising the church school in the church bulletin, on notice boards, etc.
Apply the above strategies and identify additional ones to build your church school. Neh. 2:18
(KJV) states: "And they said, 'Let us rise up and build.' So they strengthened their hands for this
good work."
Revive and rebuild for the glory of God!
