Letter from Colorado
Technical University
President and CEO
Wallace K. Pond, Ph.D.
Hello CTU Alumni!
I’m pleased to have an
opportunity to address you
again through the alumni
newsletter.
I imagine that you are not
aware of how quickly the ranks of our alumni are
growing. Not only does CTU have about 35,000
alumni, but we are increasing that number by
roughly 1,000 new graduates every 6 weeks. You
are all part of a rapidly growing, very dynamic and
diverse group of graduates.
At CTU, we serve students from all 50 states and
over 40 foreign countries. We have over 30,000
students attending one of six campus locations or
online at any given time. You can be proud of the
breadth and depth of students your alma mater
reaches and the influence our expanding alumni
population is having on communities across the
country and around the world.
Thanks for staying in touch with your CTU
family!

Alumni Leadership Gather for Inaugural
Alumni Relations Summit
Celebrating the rapid expansion of alumni programming across the schools of CEC, the Offices of
Alumni Relations and Career Services partnered to host the inaugural Alumni Relations Summit. The
gathering brought together 43 alumni champions and 44 alumni volunteer presidents representing 48
alumni associations and chapters established over the past one and a half years.
The alumni attendees represented nearly 400 alumni leadership volunteers and 457,000 graduates
across the country. The leaders converged at the Renaissance Hotel in Schaumburg, Illinois, on Jan.
11–12, 2010, to celebrate program success stories, learn best practices for alumni engagement, network
among partner schools, and participate in planning for continued expansion in 2010.
“To move so far so quickly is a testament to the dedication of the alumni volunteers and the champions,”
shared John Stachniak, CEC Senior Director of Alumni Affairs. “To have so many alumni volunteers and
champions travel to Chicago in January really illustrates the enthusiasm and support of the alumni in
enhancing their programs.”
The summit kicked off with a warm welcome from Gary E. McCullough, CEC President and Chief
Executive Officer, and included highlighted success stories that featured programs launched at the
campuses.Sessionsheldoverthetwodaysincludedunderstandingthealumnisatisfactioncycle,engaging
alumni leadership boards, serving alumni needs on campus, and planning outreach and events. Breakout
sessions by strategic business units allowed for brainstorming and networking. Sessions also facilitated
cooperation among multiple brand chapters and partnerships among campuses regionally.
All of the Alumni Association presidents who attended the 2010 Alumni Relations Summit participated
in a breakout session that included creating over 90 colorful fleece winter scarves with fringe, beading
and lots of creativity. Representatives from both the Alumni Relations and the Career Services teams
presented the scarves to the Ronald McDonald House in Maywood, Illinois, the week of Jan. 25.
Alumni champions and chapter presidents from Colorado Technical University joined other participants from schools
across the country at the 2010 Alumni Relations Summit held in January 2010 in Schaumburg, Illinois.

President
Colorado Technical Univer-
sity – Colorado Springs, in an
effort to improve its ground
educational environment,
has been undergoing a total
makeover of its Colorado
Springs campus (CTU - CS).
The CTU - CS campus has
remodeled approximately 70
percent of its 85,000 square
feet, as of February 2010. The progress so far
has included a remodel of the common areas,
classrooms, library, admissions, financial aid,
business office and faculty areas. Future areas
scheduled for renovation include the registrar of-
fices, deans’ and chairs’ offices, employee lounge
and remaining classrooms.
The CTU - CS renovation has helped create a
modern learning environment that has been
received favorably by CTU’s staff, faculty and
students. The renovation has improved the
overall campus look and feel, which has created
an environment even more conducive to learn-
ing. The new environment is comfortable and
provides an atmosphere that both students and
employees enjoy.
One of CTU’s goals is to provide a high-quality
education through world-class delivery systems.
The CTU - CS renovation is just another way in
which CTU delivers on its promise to support its
students during their educational endeavors.

I hope that all of you enjoyed
our first CTU alumni
newsletter. As an alumnus
myself, I am certainly glad
that we have come this far.
The CTU - Denver campuses
are doing well and our
growth continues. As I stated
in my last message, we have
been working hard to hit the
1,000-student level and we are now 5 students
short of 1,100. I want to thank many of you for
your recommendations to prospective students
to give CTU – Denver a try; it is working.
I wanted to let you know that one of our alumni
has been recognized by the Career College
Association, a national organization. Brian
Mitchell, an alumnus from our M.B.A. program,

received their 2009 award recognizing some
individuals who have done great things after
their graduation. We are very proud that Brian
has been designated as a recipient for this award.
If any of our alumni are doing some cool
things, let us know. We love to brag about
our graduates. We invite you to attend our
graduation ceremonies and let us know
how you are doing. We are here to assist
any CTU students and alumni, online, on
ground or elsewhere. If you are near one of
the campuses, please stop in and say hello.
From one alumnus to another, thanks for letting
people know that we are doing well at CTU,
and continue to recommend us to coworkers,
family members and friends. I assure you
that they will get as good an education as
you got or even better, because we are always
working hard to continue to be the very best.

I recently had the pleasure
of accompanying a team
of students, staff and
alumni to the Ronald
McDonald House complex
at Longfellow Park. This was
an interesting and uplifting
experience. It felt really
good to donate toilet paper
just as the house was down
to less than 100 rolls. The staff packed their
storage area from floor to ceiling with the
6-month supply we were able to give.
It felt even better to see the faces of weary
family members light up as they realized their
dinner would be Arthur Bryant’s barbecue.
As I watched a toddler with a recent liver
transplant enjoying some fun moments with
the daughter of one of our students, a thought
occurred to me. That moment of generosity
and joy was an example of what makes our
work here at CTU- Kansas City worthwhile.
Here in Kansas City, we encourage our team
to take time each day and reflect on moments
like this. For some of us, such moments may
occur when we help a student recommit to
their studies after they almost had given up.
This might happen when we see students’
faces brighten as they finally understand a
concept they have been working on for weeks.
Even the milestones of admission, graduation
and employment can serve as reminders
of why we come to work every day. The
Ronald McDonald House is just part of
our community that benefits as we help
our students find success in their studies
at CTU – Kansas City and beyond.

Thank you for the
opportunity to connect with
you and share good news
about alumni activity at the
CTU - Sioux Falls campus.
There are a number of ways
that alumni are connecting
with the learning community
at CTU in Sioux Falls.
CTU alumni connect with our students in
the classroom. The university benefits from
graduates who serve in the classroom as
full-time and adjunct professors. We also
have a number of alumni who present to
classes and share their real-world knowledge
with students who aspire to careers in the
presenters’ fields. CTU alumni also serve on
advisory boards and improve the relevance of
coursework to our students’ fields of study.
CTU alumni connect with CTU Career
Services in many valuable ways. Alumni
mentor our students and provide them
with timely information on job openings
at alumni’s companies. Our graduates also
use Career Services resources to develop
their own careers. Career assistance for our
graduates is only a phone call or e-mail away!
Our alumni are connected to campus activities
through the alumni association. Graduation,
BOO!@CTU, and the Washington Pavilion
Wellness Festival are just a few examples of
campus events the Alumni Association supports.
Please look to your e-mail for opportunities to
get involved in the life of our community.
CTU alumni connect to each other through
these alumni activities. I see relationships
formed and helpful networks built through
the association of CTU alumni. Please look
for an opportunity to connect and build
relationships with fellow CTU alumni.
I look forward to seeing you in our community! n

Now students of American InterContinental
University’s online campus can expand education
beyond their home computers at AIU facilities
called Success Centers. And soon, CTU will
launch similar locations for its students in 2010.
Alumni of any Career Education Corporation
school are welcome to utilize the centers.
For prospective students, the Success Centers
are a great place to learn about degree programs,
career services, financial aid options and more.
Each Success Center invites prospective students,
current students and alumni to experience AIU,
and soon CTU, firsthand through concierge
services provided by university advisors. The
conciergeservicesincludementoring,admissions,
academic financial aid and career services
provided by the university advisors and reflect
the idea that the Success Centers are a “one-stop
shop” for students.
The Success Centers are a result of student and
employee feedback as part of the university’s
institutional effectiveness process. AIU opened
the doors of its Lombard, Illinois Success Center
in October 2009 and its Chicago Loop Success
Center shortly after in December. Following the
initial successes of AIU’s Chicago-area Success
Centers, CTU plans to launch similar locations
in 2010.
Focused on serving the needs of its students, the
Success Centers operate on flexible weekday and
weekend schedules. “The Success Centers are
truly about providing yet another resource for
AIU’s growing student and alumni populations,”
said Joshua Meyer, AIU’s Director of Operations –
Campus Coordination.
Services currently provided include mentoring,
admissions and financial aid assistance, academic
resources, career services and IT/technical
support. The Success Center facilities boast
complimentary Wi-Fi access, print/scan/copy
service, a beverage bar, computer workstations
linked to the Virtual Campus, conference areas for
large and small group meetings and events, and
a student lounge. The Lombard Success Center
currently hosts the AIU Alumni Association
Chicago Chapter meetings.

CTU – Denver Alumnus
Receives National Award
Brian A. Mitchell,
CTU – Denver alumnus,
M.B.A. ’09 in Healthcare
Management, recently
received a national
award recognizing his
achievements following his
graduation.
Brian A. Mitchell, M.B.A. ’09 in Healthcare
Management, has received a prestigious national
award from the Career College Association
recognizing him as an individual who has
accomplished great things after his graduation. He
was recently promoted to general manager and vice
president of sales, hospital and large practice and
technology sales for GE Healthcare.
Mitchell received his Bachelor of Arts degree with
a dual major in Business Administration and
Economics from Johnson State College in Vermont
over 30 years ago. After decades away from the
classroom, he returned to school at CTU – Denver
to obtain a master’s degree.
“We should all have the courage to step out of our
comfort zones on a regular basis. When I went back
to school at CTU I was 55 years old. That was NOT
comfortable at first, but I learned to love it,” says
Mitchell. “When we take risks, we may fail, but if
we don’t see it as failure we will take greater steps
toward success and realizing our unique potential
as individuals. That is what life is all about for me
and I have never had so much failure and fun as I
do now. “
Mitchell also manages two businesses, a software
sales business with hospital and large physician
practiceclients,andaninfrastructureandhardware

sales, marketing and customer support for several
major companies. He is an avid sports participant
and coach, and is learning to be a foster parent. His
professional development plan includes obtaining
a second master’s degree and learning a second
language.
Mitchellstatesthathehadawonderfulexperienceat
CTU and thinks that the CTU model for educating
is excellent. “The traditional education that I
experienced in undergraduate school was more
difficult for me because it was not an interactive
model and didn’t fit my learning style very well,”
says Mitchell. “Hats off to CTU for hitting the
mark with me! “

of the U.S. Small Business Administration. She
is the first president of the CTU – Kansas City

degree majoring in Business Administration-
Management in 2009, graduating summa cum
laude for both her associate and bachelor’s degrees.
While attending CTU – Kansas City she served
as secretary and president of the CTU Student
Senate in 2006-2009. She received the Missouri
Association of Private Career Colleges and School
Student of the Year Award in 2006.
SheffielddecidedtoattendCTUafterherhusband’s
sudden death in 2003. “One of the hardest to
achieve, but most valuable aspects of my education
was to overcome my fears—fear of change, fear of
being alone, fear of failure. One way I accomplished
this was acceptance of the situation in which I
had found myself. Believe me, this in itself was a
miracle,” says Sheffield. “Then came the process
of making conscious decisions so that the situation
played out in a positive scenario, such as going
to class with an open mind for learning, being
ambitious, pushing myself to finish, setting goals
that were attainable, having a positive attitude.”
Sheffield states that she really enjoys studying
economics, with economic development one aspect
of that. “At first, my greatest enjoyment from my
job came from the ability to apply my knowledge
and skills from courses I had taken at CTU, “says
Sheffield. “Now having taken some professional
development courses and gained some experience
as a finance specialist, I have obtained a broader
scope as to what economic development is and
how it impacts communities by job creation
and retention.” Some of her recent professional
development includes courses to become a certified
Economic Development Finance Professional and
courses offered by the National Association of
Development Companies.
Sheffield’s current community service includes
volunteerism for Toys for Tots, Harvesters Club,
Ronald McDonald House and the Glenwood
Baptist Church AWANA Youth Group and Adopt-
A-Highway Clean-up. She is also busy with her
several grandchildren and other close family
members.
“There were many people at CTU who offered
encouragement when I thought I couldn’t go on,
direction when I didn’t know which way to go,
hope when the situation seemed hopeless,” offers
Sheffield. “A few saw potential in me and gave
me a hand up by their actions such as nominating
me for the Student Senate. Of course, the final
decision rested on me, but I am grateful for being
introduced to opportunities to grow of which I was
not at first aware.”

Robert W. Touro’s career in
information technology spans
over four decades, with many
of those years spent as a senior
manager and marketing
executive, domestically and
internationally. He shares his impressive experience
with students at CTU – Online where he has been
teaching business courses as adjunct faculty since
2004.
“CTU affords our students with the ability to obtain
real-world knowledge in a number of disciplines,
taught by instructors with years of experience in
those disciplines,” says Touro. “The ability to earn
a degree anytime/anywhere meets the demanding
needs of a mobile marketplace and workforce, where
working adults need flexibility to learn when it is
convenient to do so anywhere in the world where
they can connect via the Internet. The flexibility of
CTU’s online learning platforms is a major reason
for our ongoing growth and success.”
Touro has a Master of Arts degree in Education,
which he obtained entirely online to earn a major in
e-education, adult learning and distance education.
He has served as a faculty mentor to over 125 faculty
members and in 2005 received the Faculty Service
and Faculty Mentor of the Year Awards. In 2009
he received the CTU Faculty Excellence Award. “I
felt particularly honored by this award, since the
nominations came primarily from the student
body,” says Touro. “It was especially gratifying to be
recognized by them with the concurrence of CTU
management.”
Touro’s professional background encompasses

“As an instructor, mentor/coach, moderator and

beneficial to me and enable me to be more aware
of and able to assist in the implementation and/

improve our offerings and administration for faculty

“Perhaps the best part of being an instructor at
CTU is the friendships I make with my students.
Of all my career successes, nothing comes close to

obtaining their dream of earning a college degree,”
emphasizes Touro. “And nothing comes close to the
elation I feel when I receive e-mails from students
thanking me for helping them in their educational
journey and career development. Instructing at
CTU is personally gratifying and humbling, and I
cherish the opportunity to be able to do that well into
the future.” n

Denver’s Criminal Justice
program.
CTU’s Bachelor of Science
degree program in Criminal
Justice is designed to
provide graduates with
a solid foundation in the
various facets of the criminal justice system.
The curriculum encompasses the psychological
and sociological dimensions of human behavior
and crime as students weave in and out of topics
ranging from theories of delinquency through
various modes of punishment. The concentration
in forensics further equips graduates with hands-
on lab activities for practical exposure in the “real
world” of crime scene investigation.
As many agencies upgrade their educational
requirements for employment, higher education
becomes an extremely vital commodity. Across
the nation we have witnessed an increase in the
number of colleges offering degrees in criminal
justice and related fields.
CTU – Denver will soon also offer a concentration
in human services that will prepare graduates with
the academic knowledge similar to that of victims’
advocates and certified addiction counselors.
CTU – Sioux Falls
Computer Science Degree Programs
CTU – Sioux Falls provides associate, bachelor’s
and master’s degrees in the areas of Computer
Science, Computer Systems Security, Database
Systems, Enterprise Information Management,
Software Engineering, Emerging Media, Digital
Media Design and Information Technology
Management.
Computer Science faculty at CTU strive to
prepare career-motivated professionals with the
credentials to achieve success in a broad range
of technology-dependent industries. Many
programs include career-relevant concentration
options students can choose to expand their
knowledge in a specialized area. CTU students
are taught to critically evaluate, analyze and solve
problems within a variety of disciplines; conduct
professional, scholarly, applied research; use
state-of-the-practice engineering techniques and
tools; and communicate effectively with others in
a team-centered environment.

Colorado Technical University Alumni Newsletter - Spring 2010

  • 1. alumniNEWS SPRING 2010 volume 2 | issue 1 Letter from Colorado Technical University President and CEO Wallace K. Pond, Ph.D. Hello CTU Alumni! I’m pleased to have an opportunity to address you again through the alumni newsletter. I imagine that you are not aware of how quickly the ranks of our alumni are growing. Not only does CTU have about 35,000 alumni, but we are increasing that number by roughly 1,000 new graduates every 6 weeks. You are all part of a rapidly growing, very dynamic and diverse group of graduates. At CTU, we serve students from all 50 states and over 40 foreign countries. We have over 30,000 students attending one of six campus locations or online at any given time. You can be proud of the breadth and depth of students your alma mater reaches and the influence our expanding alumni population is having on communities across the country and around the world. Thanks for staying in touch with your CTU family! Dr. Wallace K. Pond In this issue Letter from the President and CEO — 1 | Alumni Relations Summit — 1 | campusHappenings — 2 | careerIN FOCUS — 3 alumni“MOVERS” — 4 | alumniBENEFITS — 5 | facultyNOTES — 6 | featuredPROGRAMS — 7 | contactINFO — 8 Alumni Leadership Gather for Inaugural Alumni Relations Summit Celebrating the rapid expansion of alumni programming across the schools of CEC, the Offices of Alumni Relations and Career Services partnered to host the inaugural Alumni Relations Summit. The gathering brought together 43 alumni champions and 44 alumni volunteer presidents representing 48 alumni associations and chapters established over the past one and a half years. The alumni attendees represented nearly 400 alumni leadership volunteers and 457,000 graduates across the country. The leaders converged at the Renaissance Hotel in Schaumburg, Illinois, on Jan. 11–12, 2010, to celebrate program success stories, learn best practices for alumni engagement, network among partner schools, and participate in planning for continued expansion in 2010. “To move so far so quickly is a testament to the dedication of the alumni volunteers and the champions,” shared John Stachniak, CEC Senior Director of Alumni Affairs. “To have so many alumni volunteers and champions travel to Chicago in January really illustrates the enthusiasm and support of the alumni in enhancing their programs.” The summit kicked off with a warm welcome from Gary E. McCullough, CEC President and Chief Executive Officer, and included highlighted success stories that featured programs launched at the campuses.Sessionsheldoverthetwodaysincludedunderstandingthealumnisatisfactioncycle, engaging alumni leadership boards, serving alumni needs on campus, and planning outreach and events. Breakout sessions by strategic business units allowed for brainstorming and networking. Sessions also facilitated cooperation among multiple brand chapters and partnerships among campuses regionally. All of the Alumni Association presidents who attended the 2010 Alumni Relations Summit participated in a breakout session that included creating over 90 colorful fleece winter scarves with fringe, beading and lots of creativity. Representatives from both the Alumni Relations and the Career Services teams presented the scarves to the Ronald McDonald House in Maywood, Illinois, the week of Jan. 25. Alumni champions and chapter presidents from Colorado Technical University joined other participants from schools across the country at the 2010 Alumni Relations Summit held in January 2010 in Schaumburg, Illinois. Got news? Are you moving? Received a promotion? Given an award? Started a new business? We’d like to hear from you! Contact the Colorado Technical University Alumni Association office at 3150 West Higgins Road Hoffman Estates, IL 60169 847.851.7175 or alumni@coloradotech.edu and share your news for publication in this newsletter. Include a digital photo of yourself if you can, and be sure and provide your major, degree and graduation year.
  • 2. CTU – Colorado Springs By: Greg Mitchell President Colorado Technical Univer- sity – Colorado Springs, in an effort to improve its ground educational environment, has been undergoing a total makeover of its Colorado Springs campus (CTU - CS). The CTU - CS campus has remodeled approximately 70 percent of its 85,000 square feet, as of February 2010. The progress so far has included a remodel of the common areas, classrooms, library, admissions, financial aid, business office and faculty areas. Future areas scheduled for renovation include the registrar of- fices, deans’ and chairs’ offices, employee lounge and remaining classrooms. The CTU - CS renovation has helped create a modern learning environment that has been received favorably by CTU’s staff, faculty and students. The renovation has improved the overall campus look and feel, which has created an environment even more conducive to learn- ing. The new environment is comfortable and provides an atmosphere that both students and employees enjoy. One of CTU’s goals is to provide a high-quality education through world-class delivery systems. The CTU - CS renovation is just another way in which CTU delivers on its promise to support its students during their educational endeavors. CTU – Denver By: Mark A. Pieffer, D.M. ’96 President I hope that all of you enjoyed our first CTU alumni newsletter. As an alumnus myself, I am certainly glad that we have come this far. The CTU - Denver campuses are doing well and our growth continues. As I stated in my last message, we have been working hard to hit the 1,000-student level and we are now 5 students short of 1,100. I want to thank many of you for your recommendations to prospective students to give CTU – Denver a try; it is working. I wanted to let you know that one of our alumni has been recognized by the Career College Association, a national organization. Brian Mitchell, an alumnus from our M.B.A. program, campusHAPPENINGS alumniNEWS | 2 received their 2009 award recognizing some individuals who have done great things after their graduation. We are very proud that Brian has been designated as a recipient for this award. If any of our alumni are doing some cool things, let us know. We love to brag about our graduates. We invite you to attend our graduation ceremonies and let us know how you are doing. We are here to assist any CTU students and alumni, online, on ground or elsewhere. If you are near one of the campuses, please stop in and say hello. From one alumnus to another, thanks for letting people know that we are doing well at CTU, and continue to recommend us to coworkers, family members and friends. I assure you that they will get as good an education as you got or even better, because we are always working hard to continue to be the very best. CTU – Kansas City By: Tim Gramling President I recently had the pleasure of accompanying a team of students, staff and alumni to the Ronald McDonald House complex at Longfellow Park. This was an interesting and uplifting experience. It felt really good to donate toilet paper just as the house was down to less than 100 rolls. The staff packed their storage area from floor to ceiling with the 6-month supply we were able to give. It felt even better to see the faces of weary family members light up as they realized their dinner would be Arthur Bryant’s barbecue. As I watched a toddler with a recent liver transplant enjoying some fun moments with the daughter of one of our students, a thought occurred to me. That moment of generosity and joy was an example of what makes our work here at CTU- Kansas City worthwhile. Here in Kansas City, we encourage our team to take time each day and reflect on moments like this. For some of us, such moments may occur when we help a student recommit to their studies after they almost had given up. This might happen when we see students’ faces brighten as they finally understand a concept they have been working on for weeks. Even the milestones of admission, graduation and employment can serve as reminders of why we come to work every day. The Ronald McDonald House is just part of our community that benefits as we help our students find success in their studies at CTU – Kansas City and beyond. CTU – Sioux Falls By: David Heflin, Ed.D. Mitchell, M.B.A. ’09 in Healthcare Management, has received a prestigious national award from the Career College Association recognizing him as an individual who has accomplished great things after his graduation. He was recently promoted to general manager and vice president of sales, hospital and large practice and technology sales for GE Healthcare. Mitchell received his Bachelor of Arts degree with a dual major in Business Administration and Economics from Johnson State College in Vermont over 30 years ago. After decades away from the classroom, he returned to school at CTU – Denver to obtain a master’s degree. “We should all have the courage to step out of our comfort zones on a regular basis. When I went back to school at CTU I was 55 years old. That was NOT comfortable at first, but I learned to love it,” says Mitchell. “When we take risks, we may fail, but if we don’t see it as failure we will take greater steps toward success and realizing our unique potential as individuals. That is what life is all about for me and I have never had so much failure and fun as I do now. “ Mitchell also manages two businesses, a software sales business with hospital and large physician practiceclients, andaninfrastructureandhardware business.Hehashadalongandsuccessfulcareerin sales, marketing and customer support for several major companies. She received the Missouri Association of Private Career Colleges and School Student of the Year Award in 2006. SheffielddecidedtoattendCTUafterherhusband’s sudden death in 2003. “One of the hardest to achieve, but most valuable aspects of my education was to overcome my fears—fear of change, fear of being alone, fear of failure. One way I accomplished this was acceptance of the situation in which I had found myself. Believe me, this in itself was a miracle,” says Sheffield. “Then came the process of making conscious decisions so that the situation played out in a positive scenario, such as going to class with an open mind for learning, being ambitious, pushing myself to finish, setting goals that were attainable, having a positive attitude.” Sheffield states that she really enjoys studying economics, with economic development one aspect of that. “At first, my greatest enjoyment from my job came from the ability to apply my knowledge and skills from courses I had taken at CTU, “says Sheffield. “Now having taken some professional development courses and gained some experience as a finance specialist, I have obtained a broader scope as to what economic development is and how it impacts communities by job creation and retention.” Some of her recent professional development includes courses to become a certified Economic Development Finance Professional and courses offered by the National Association of Development Companies. Sheffield’s current community service includes volunteerism for Toys for Tots, Harvesters Club, Ronald McDonald House and the Glenwood Baptist Church AWANA Youth Group and Adopt- A-Highway Clean-up. She is also busy with her several grandchildren and other close family members. “There were many people at CTU who offered encouragement when I thought I couldn’t go on, direction when I didn’t know which way to go, hope when the situation seemed hopeless,” offers Sheffield. “A few saw potential in me and gave me a hand up by their actions such as nominating me for the Student Senate. Of course, the final decision rested on me, but I am grateful for being introduced to opportunities to grow of which I was not at first aware.” CTU – Sioux Falls Alumna Combines Business Career and Community Service Toshea Womble, CTU – Sioux Falls alumna, M.B.A. ’08.
