2. What is the
ADDIE MODEL?
The Addie model is an instructional design methodology used to help
organize and streamline the production of your course content.
ADDIE Is:
Analysis – Is understanding the problem.
Design - Designing the learning Programme, defining learning objectives
and planning the structure and content.
Development - Taking information gathered to develop learning materials
and activities
Implementation - Once the content has been finalized and all the hard
work is out of the way. It is ready for launch.
Evaluation – Understanding how effective training is by gathering
feedback from learners. What works, what does not and how to improve.

Dick and Carey
MODEL ?
Created by: Walter Dick, Lou Carey, and James Carey
developed this comprehensive and detailed
process in 1978.

The Dick & Carey instructional design
model (AKA the Systems Approach
Model) is a 10 step process for
planning and designing effective
learning initiatives.
It includes all five stages of the
ADDIE model, but adds further
depth and structure as well. It also
has more focus on design and less
focus on implementation than the
ADDIE model, builds in iterative
development through ongoing
revised instructions.
4. Compare ADDIE & DICK and CAREY 4
The similarity between both models is in its
system approaches, which focuses on the
input, output, and process of a curriculum’s
design. Both models focuses on what learners
must know and can be revised using
evaluations from the learning processes.

ADDIE
Consists of 5 Phases
More linear Design
Evaluation is done at the final phase

Consists of 10 detailed Phases
More Agile Design
Evaluation is conducted at every phase,
additional evaluation is conducted to revise
the instructions to ensure a phases is
successful.

areas in schools as well as in the business
world

as a system, .
• Other components of the model
interconnect with each other and is
developed from an initial starting point
• This model takes the learners and their
prior knowledge and preconceived notions

decision making in the design process
• Learners' needs can be addressed and
expectations can be met.
