2. Overview of the Employer Partner Scheme
The Employer Partner Scheme was introduced in 2018 to replace the existing Organisational Membership Scheme.
It was developed in response to the demand from members in the 2016 Securing the Future consultation to find
better, more meaningful ways to encourage employers to recognise and value the skills of librarians and
information professionals.
The ‘Partnership’ model was drawn from the BCS (‘Corporate Partner’) and CIPD (‘People Development Partner’) –
both of which are organisational membership schemes with similar benefits to CILIP’s. We have not yet found an
equivalent scheme in any professional association where the whole membership would vote on applicant
organisations.
