We all at one time or the other have bosses. There are several types and they come in different shades. This presentation shows you ten types of bosses and explains their power and pain points so you can better learn how to work with them and do an excellent job.
2. It is a well-known fact that the type of boss you work for
can influence how long you stay in a workplace. Your
boss in theory is supposed to be someone that you learn
from, a successful figure that helps you progress in your
career, offers you guidance and above all has your back.
But this isn’t always the case, and with characters such
as the boss who doesn’t have a clue what is happening
on a daily basis, to the boss who thinks it’s acceptable to
call you during annual leave it can be quite challenging to
get through the day.
3. Here are some different
types of bosses that
we’ve all definitely
worked for.
4. The boss that wants to get involved in everything that
you are doing, not to give you some guidance, but just
so they can control every aspect of what you do. This
boss is most likely to point out that you accidentally
missed a full stop at the end of a casual work email.
This kind of boss can be seen forcefully teaching their
employees how to correctly staple two pieces of paper
together.
1. The Micro Manager
5. 2. The Clueless Boss
Do you ever sometimes look at some people in your
workplace and wonder how they ever managed to get a job?
Yep, this is exactly what you think about for this kind of boss.
This type of boss has no idea what is going on, no idea what
targets the team are working towards and causes havoc with
short deadlines because everything is so disorganized.
6. 3. The Late Boss
Often spotted bursting into meetings late,
with specks of porridge on their shirt
because they had to eat their breakfast on
public transport in order to save some
time. This boss often leaves a flurry of
crumpled up printed notes after every
meeting with a few doodles on.
7. No filter, has no care for what is said during
meetings, and thinks there is absolutely
nothing wrong in swearing in front of
colleagues, talking about their partying,
drug taking and booze fueled holidays. Bit
of a lad really.
4. The Inappropriate Boss
8. 5. The Emotional Boss
This person has never really understood the
importance of keeping their emotions in check,
and instead allows their moods to influence their
entire team. If this boss is having a bad day,
everyone knows about it. If this boss is happy
then everyone else is allowed to be happy. An
emotional bomb, and definitely shouldn’t be
managing people.
9. 6. The Sleazy Boss
A sexual harassment case waiting to happen. A walking,
talking sleaze ball, and has the stupidity to think that no-
one else has clocked on to their inappropriate behaviour.
Always overheard commenting on the physical
appearance of colleagues.
10. 7. The Bullying Boss (AKA The Scary Boss)
The type of boss that enjoys embarrassing a
member of their team in front of everyone,
and hurls personal insults. Basically, the type
of boss that will be pulled up for a tribunal
hearing at some point soon.
11. Extremely proud of the team,
always shouting about what the
team have accomplished, and
always signs off expenses without
a second glance. Legend!
8. The Over The Top Boss
12. 9. The 24/7 Boss
This one has no boundaries at all whatsoever. Most likely
to be spotted calling colleagues on weekends and during
their periods of annual leave, because apparently no-one
is allowed any time off.
13. This is the rarest boss of them all. A boss who is genuinely
dedicated to their team, and is concerned about your
personal development and happiness at work. Finding this
sort of boss is like snagging a free Nando’s. Hang on to them
at all costs.
10. The Genuine Boss
14. No matter what types of bosses you have, or have had in
the past there is always a way to succeed under their
management. You can learn from anyone. Take note of
the habits of managers you've liked and not liked.
Hopefully you'll find yourself in their position someday
and you will be the great boss!
