In this session you will learn how to look for information in Bun!, the UAM´s Library Searcher Description: use of the tools of the library catalog of the Autonomous University of Madrid: logging in my library card, simple search, advanced search, filters, requests, saving records (citations, export), bibliography by subjects, etc.

2. Bun! Is the UAM’s library (Bibliographic) Unique
search engine.
Bun! gives you access to all the resources and
publications – printed or electronic, open access or
suscribed by the library.

and then sort the results list
by relevance.

Material type, language and publication date.

look it up. You have different
choices:
- Place a request
- Read it online, when
available
- Request a purchase of

Books with an electronic
version have an “Online
Access” link. By clicking it,
texts can be accessed,
available through different
platforms, subscribed by
the UAM’s Library for you
(Full text available at).
You must be connected to
the Wifi Eduroam network
or access remotely with
VPN2.

In the Bun! upper menu, you have
the option “Solicitud de compra”-
Purchase request (not translated,
yet) to ask your library to purchase
more items or a title (you have to
be logged in)

the selected items in “My favorites”
You can

get a list of your
saved records, and
you can:
- cite them,
- send them by mail

22. Managing data
When your searches throw too many results, you have to refine it, either using the search
filters, or selecting Resource type, Topic, Full-text, Authors, Creation date, …
Keep on refining until your results list is easy
to handle with.

Peer reviewed documents assure their academic quality.
Actions options in the results list • “Show actions options” in the
dots to open the menu.
• Some documents have a Citation
tree:
o Find the sources citing the document
o Look at the sources cited in
o Cite the document in your work: choose the
convenient format for your studies
o Email your references
o Add items to your favorites and save queries

Bun! shows you the
items subscribed by the
University.
Bun! downloads every
week new results
Navigating between
cites lets you follow the
best articles and authors
of your disciplines
25. Citations
Cite the documents with
Choose the format
Export to
o Excel
o Bibtex (latex)
o RIS format
o RefWorks
o EndNote, EasyBib (other bibliographic managers)
Sign into your bibliographic manager account (RefWorks)
o Selection of items > citation > RefWorks
Once you chose the format, copy
the citation directly in your work.

- In course bibliography, write
the name of a subject
- In studies, write key words of
your studies name

Choose your subject (the number in brackets is the
number of references in this subject).
As in the results list, here
you can also cite, email
references, add to My
favorites, export…
And of course, see the
availability of the books,
place requests, etc.
