This infographic shows details about the allied invasion of
Normandy on the 6th of June 1944. There is a lot of text on this
so I imagine that it isn’t appealing to many, however it does have
lots of numbers and detailed pictures.

This infographic is a lot more appealing to me. It has
minimal text whilst still attaining much information. The
minimalistic art style is very appealing to me.

This infographic isn’t very appealing to me as the text
is all on flat colour and there’s a lot of it. Infographics
should have minimal text and a font that pops out.

This infographic, much like the second one, is very
simplistic whilst keeping a lot of information. I’d say it is
effective as I now know about the Successor class
submarine.

8. Research:
Describe how you located, retrieved and stored information:
I used the “Google Chrome” application to gather information about each director on the
internet. I found this app very useful as it allowed me to access various websites with facts.
The most useful website I used was google.com as it allowed me to type in a simple term such
as “director facts” and it came up with hundreds of results. To store the results, I simply copied
the text onto the Photoshop document featuring my infographic. To get the information about
Kubrick, for example, for my infographic, I went on a website call “biography.com”

• Irn Bru isn’t a

• Irn Bru is for men.

12. Client research:
Website
On a first look, the website is very simplistic,
but the deeper you go, you realise that there
are various tabs with different content in
each one. In one tab it advertises a thing
called the “Bruland Games” where you can
play simple advergames that feature things
like tossing a can of Irn Bru like the caber toss
and lifting weights, but instead of weights it’s
a box of Irn Bru.
13. Market research:
Competitors
According to www.hoovers.com, Barr’s main competitors are Britvic, Pepsico and The Coca Cola Company. Each company
has a much larger stock worth than AG Barr. A single share for AG Barr is worth 744 GBX or £7.44 whereas a single share in
Coca Cola is worth around £35.87. A share in Pepsico is worth about £85.21. Finally, Britvic is worth 781GBX or £7.81 in
the London Stock Exchange. It looks like Pepsico and The Coca Cola Company are worth a lot more than Britvic and AG
Barr, however a single share in Britvic is only worth about 20p more than Barr itself.
14. Market research:
Pepsico and The Coca Cola Company own various brands including Fanta, Tango, 7up and Sprite. AG Barr on the other
hand owns mostly energy drink and ginger beer companies. Rockstar, Irn Bru, Tizer and Rubicon are all owned by AG Barr.
Pepsi and Coca Cola are a lot more popular as they’re very famous and well known brands. Barr was officially established
in 1875. Coca Cola in 1892 and Pepsi in 1898. Irn Bru itself was made in 1901.

This is the 2010 world cup

throughout it is the Coca Cola

video is more community
orientated compared to Irn Bru
adverts which are more comedic.
15. Audience research:
50% of my audience identifies as female, 30% identifies as male and 20% as non-binary/other.
16. Audience research:
My audience seems to be indifferent on the taste of Irn Bru. Unfortunately, I structured this question
rather weirdly so it ended up with the results being a bit confusing.

20. Idea Generation:
Mood Board: My mood board is split between two different sections. The 10 pictures on the left are for my video advert
and the 5 one the right are for the advergame. When choosing pictures to represent the mood of my video advert, I
wanted to go with a very specific VHS style. The picture in the very top left is a clip from the sketch that inspired the way I
will cut up and edit my work. I feel as if my shots will be very similar to the ones in first minute and a half of the video
with the camera staying above the torso in a lot of shots. With the two pictures of the VHS, I wanted to represent how I
want my video to look with the dodgy 3D-ish effect. I will probably put some grain in too to make it look older too.
21. Individual Idea:
So my idea for the advergame involves a sonar. You will be clicking on Irn Bru cans to collect them and gain 10 points,
whereas if you click on any of the Nessies that appear, you’ll lose 20 points. The overall layout will include a start button
that you can press, a Score, Time and Credits counter, the logo “IBruPROFEN” and finally, a small screen in the bottom left
with binary digits moving up and down. The video will be a ship at sea in a rough storm. A fisherman’s boat. The
fishermen on board will look on the sonar for somewhere to weigh anchor so that they don’t crash. All of a sudden,
something will move towards them on the sonar and eventually the fishermen look overboard and see it’s actually a can
of Irn Bru. One of them takes a sip and then the storm stops. Logo spins onto the screen “Irn Bru. It’s not quite Nessie.”

24. Planning Docs (Advergame):
Use the Irn Bru Project UAL 2017 presentation to see the planning requirements. Include all the required planning.
My advergame went through a couple of different stages. I started off doing the group idea of space invaders, but I ended
up not liking my take on it so I decided to do my own individual idea. Instead of animating the whole game, I instead
made it a looping gif/video of a starting up sequence.
