I write this letter in support of Ashley Van Ness’s application for the Central Ohio
Technical College Board of Trustee Scholarship 2017-2018. I believe that she meets
and exceeds the requirements of a proven academic record, demonstrable financial
need and committed community service.
Ashley was competitively selected to serve as the East Central Ohio SCORE chapter’s
youngest intern/mentor. She studied and qualified as a nationally certified mentor to
aspiring entrepreneurs. To my knowledge, she is the youngest person to be awarded
the professional designation (SCORE Mentor). She has worked with me as a co-mentor
with distinction. Her enthusiastic work is a credit to the college and our SCORE chapter.
She has helped foster and grow entrepreneurship in our community - a level of
community service that is unparalleled by others in her age group.
Ashley also serves as an unpaid intern to the chapter. She attends all meetings, assists
fellow mentors with social media advice to clients, publishes power point presentations
for chapter use and provides invaluable insight of a younger person’s viewpoint to our
older mentors.
