12. Cricket World Cup Ad Revenue
● Star India was sold 80% of its advertisement inventory for the World Cup
● signing up more than 40 top advertisers, including PhonePe , OnePlus , Havells,
Amazon, Dream11, MRF Tyres, Coca-Cola, Uber, Mondelez, Oppo, Philips , Ceat
Tyres and ICICI Lombard, according to the broadcaster.
● Broadcaster expected revenue was - ₹1,200 crore through television advertising
& additional 300crore from video streaming platform Hotstar
● If India played the finals Star would have charged ₹25-30 lakh per 10 second

● World Cup match has about 5,500 seconds of total ad inventory but during the final,
depending on the demand, Star can load up to 7,000 seconds of inventory
● India-Pakistan game always being one of the must-watch games of the tournament
● Star was charging ₹25 lakh for 10 second ad slots during the match, up from ₹16-18
lakh for other India games
● With about 5,500 seconds of total inventory, Star was expected to generate as much
as ₹100 crore from the India-Pakistan match alone
● A ten-second slot on Star Sports network for the other India matches prior to the
semi-finals stage was costing between ₹ 10 lakh and ₹ 12 lakh. For the non-India
games the cost comes down to ₹ 6 lakh to ₹ 6.5 lakh.
