Once upon a time there lived a poor woood-cutter with his family. They lived in a small
house near a forest. Their children’s names were Hansel and Gretel. The children loved
their parents and the parents loved their son and their daughter.
But times were very hard. The parents had very little food and soon there was nothing left.
The children were hungry. They were starving. So one day they decided to look for some
food. They went into the woods but they did not find anything. They went on further and
finally came to a small cottage.
But the cottage was very strange. It was made of bread, cakes, cookies, biscuits, chocolate
and sweets. The windows were made of sugar and the roof was covered with bars of
chocolate.
When the children saw that, they were very surprised. As they were hungry they started to
eat. Hansel took a piece of bread in one hand and a piece of cake in the other. Gretel took
two bars of chocolate from the roof.
They were very happy with their discovery. But at the moment they heard a voice from the
cottage. “Who is eating my house”? Hansel and Gretel did not pay too much attention to the
voice.
They replied: “It’s just the wind”. But they heard the voice again. This time the voice was
very loud and they had to answer.
They said: “We are poor children and we are starving. Can you help us and give us some
food?”
They saw an old woman coming out of the cottage. She was wearing old clothes. She was
weak and her legs were weak. She was carrying a walking stick. The children were
frightened and about to run away. But the old lady invited them to come in. She told them
that she would give them lots of food. She assured them that they would be fine. And so the
children stayed.
The old woman offered them all kinds of food: milk, buns, fruitcake, apples, oranges,
bananas, walnuts, fresh bread, roast meat, different salads and vegetables, and many other
delicacies. The children were eating and eating until they were quite full. Then they drank
some hot milk and they were ready to go to bed.
The old woman showed them two small beds with clean sheets and soft pillows and woolen
blankets. So Hansel and Gretel got into the beds and were soon asleep. They even forgot
to wash their hands and feet. Soon they were fast asleep.
Next day children realised that the old woman was a witch and they wanted to run away.
The witch put a curse on them but she used a wrong curse and they were teleported into
the future.
They found themselves in the middle of a big city and they didn’t understand what had
happened. People were wearing weird clothes and they were riding strange metal horses.
For a long time they were walking through the city and people were looking at them weirdly.
At the end a little boy noticed them and wanted to help them. They told him what had
happened to them.
The boy said: “My name is Tim. What are your names? “
Gretel answered: “My name is Gretel and this is my older brother Hansel. Can you help
us?“
Tim said: “I know a place where is someone that could help you.“
So the children followed him.
“This is the place, “ said Tim.
It was a modern building. They went inside and they noticed a tall and slim lady.
She asked: “What do you want here? “
Tim answered: “I know that you have something that could help them. “
They told her what happened to them. Meanwhile the woman looked as she was trying to
find something. Finally she turned round and handed them a strange machine. She
explained it was a time machine but it needed batteries which they had to buy. The
specialized shop was at the end of the city. So they ran quickly because the old lady told
them that the shop was going to close in some minutes. Finally they found the shop but it
was about to close. First, a shop keeper didn’t want to give them the batteries but at last he
gave them the last packet.
When they came back, it was already night. They went into the building and the old lady put
batteries inside the machine. After that she pressed a red button to start it. A large portal
appeared in front of them. Hansel and Gretel said good bye to Tim and came into the
portal. BANG! POW! BOOM!
They found themselves inside a stinking room of the witch’s house. They ran out and they
have been running for hours until they reached their house. They came in and took a deep
breath of familiar smell of their home. Dad was standing there and welcoming them with
tears in his eyes. They hugged heartily and...
