30. Methodology
The survey was conducted from January 14 to February 17, 2020. (The
timing was later than in previous years in order to start after the
conclusion of the January 11 presidential/legislative elections).
Based on input from 197 voting members of the Chamber – mainly
country heads – for a gratifying response rate of 50.3%.
AmCham Taipei thanks Thomas Ivacko, Interim Director, Center for Local,
State, and Urban Policy, at the Ford School of Public Policy at the
University of Michigan for technical guidance in conducting the survey.

Editor's Notes
These are suppositions in trying to explain the positive attitudes. They were not covered explicitly in the survey.
Last year many companies were worried about the impact of the US-China trade dispute. Now only 10.75% have found it to have a big impact on their business. Nearly half see a positive result for Taiwan so far.
Combine this with next slide
Last year 43.6% cited product or service innovation. Innovation is becoming increasingly important.
Good news for the Taiwan economy.
Statistically roughly the same level.
Better than last year. But a large proportion of respondents are still worried about the future energy supply.
