• Kebri Dehar University (KDU) established as autonomous
public university based on Higher Education proclamation
No. 650/2009.
• KDU established with its own legal personality given by
legislation No.354/2015 of FDRE Council of Ministers.
• Based on higher education proclamation No. 650/2009
revised in 2019 KDU shall be accountable to Ministry of
Science and Higher Education, Ethiopia.
• KDU is one of the fast growing 4th generation Universities in
the country.

• KDU recruited 349 academic staffs and 860 Admin and supporting
staffs.
 The first golden batch of 612 students have graduated from the
University in various fields of study on 13, February 2021.
 At present, around 5,010 (4,100 regular and 910 Extension program) of
undergraduate students are enrolled.
 The main source of funds for KDU is from the Federal Ggovernment
through MoSHE in collaboration with the MoFED.
 KDU currently running 17 undergraduate programs under four colleges
and going to open new 6 programs by 2014 E.C academic year.
