I’ve got an unusual blend of skills and experience across corporate
Alex Butler and start up organisations. I am the CEO of KindredHQ.com, a brand
new start-up community of people who work outside the ‘normal’
organisational structure. And I like to walk the talk so I am also a
OFFICE consultant specialising in digital innovation and transformation.

Until 2010 I led the transformation of the UK Government’s
Austin Road, London approach to and use of digital technologies as I established a
SW11 5JN programme of activity to improve the UK government’s online
services. I was responsible for the original service proposition for
PHONE
Directgov, the UK Government’s citizen website and also established
0207 720 3378 and ran a new digital delivery division within the Central Office of
+44 7980556357 Information (COI), the forerunner of the Government Digital Service.
Throughout my career I have sought to innovate within the
EMAIL organisations that I have worked in. For example, I put in place a
alex@kindredhq.com digital innovation programme linking established digital entrepreneurs
with government communicators, with outstanding results. I
WEB championed the strategic use of digital technology by government,
www.kindredhq.com helping the UK government to collaborate with industry and
entrepreneurs.
In 2004, I conceived and led a very different marketing approach for
BT Wholesale’s broadband demand registration marketing
programme, coordinating over 3000 disparate campaign volunteers to
bring broadband to villages and towns across the UK.
My background is in marketing, from solid beginnings at Saatchi and
Saatchi and as a consultant at Interbrand, to running large-scale
product marketing and brand programmes in large multinational
technology organisations, such as BT and Cable & Wireless. I have
also worked in start up organisations developing new brand identities
and launch programmes. I was Head of Brand Marketing at the
General Motors tech start up ‘Onstar Europe’.
